Every class your student attends should have a course syllabus, glossary, reading lists, tests, all homework and in-class work as well as daily transcripts or lecture notes published online and made available for every parent to read.
Also every standardized test, rubric and internal testing system should be made completely accessible (after the tests have been taken by the students).
This should be for every grade and every class starting in preschool.
The schools already have this information but they do not allow parents to see it.
Every classroom should have a live camera feed showing every angle of the classroom, with audio, available for parents to watch. This would be for the parents or caregivers of children in that class only. These should be recorded and archived securely as a record of teacher and student behavior.
The schools need to take their parent elected site councils (yes, these exist already as rubber stamps) and give them control over the curriculum of the school in coordination with the school board and PTA.
Parents are expected to give feedback on any educational content they read or observe and have the ability to refer to video recordings for disciplinary hearings, issues with teachers.
This will blow up to be a big mess of parents arguing with the school administrations but ultimately it will result in parents being able to support their students.
The current situation is that parents are locked out of the schools and don’t know what the teachers are teaching or why.
