Tiny housing

Modify housing codes to include tiny houses on land and on wheels if they have a place to park. This will help with the housing crisis, and maybe even homelessness.

Many housing codes came from the depression era where people set up dangerous structures made from anything they could find in the cities and caused safety issues. I think these codes need updated.

Modern tiny homes can be built safely with clean water, are energy effecient and even provide safe electricity with solar power.

Codes requiring square feet and hook up to public utilities among others are out dated. We can still require safety regulations, just update and adjust them. Water needs tested to verify it’s clean, how is sewer handled, Is the wiring safe, Is the building solid, is the roof safe, etc.

I absolutely agree. I want a tiny house on wheels so desperately, but NO counties around my area in MS allow them. Coding & zoning laws make it impossible to own one. And for some of us, it’s all we need.
