Tariffs on Off-Shore Foreign Labor

American companies that hire off-shore foreign labor should be required to pay tariffs on that foreign labor.

Too many large American corporations outsource jobs such as call centers & information technology jobs to foreign countries where the cost of labor is less expensive than American salaries. Then those American corporations continue to charge first world prices for their goods and services.

Tariffs historically applied only to goods, because for centuries only goods were shipped to other countries. With modern technology many companies hire workers in foreign countries and effectively ship the benefits of the labor to America but fail to pay tariffs on the labor. By importing low cost labor into America, American’s are competing on an uneven labor market.

Thank you. I was going to propose this as well. We need to train Americans for these jobs. I’m competing with Indian IT labor and I would rather be competing with Americans for these jobs. Their labor costs are ridiculously low for what should be good paying American jobs. Money collected from the tariffs should go into training programs for Americans. A country without a strong engineering and manufacturing base will fail.

We need a 25% CLIMATE tariff, on all imported goods this is actually significantly cheaper and will save the American citizen a lot more money than other climate taxes that have been proposed by the government.
Implementing climate tariffs on imported goods can significantly reduce global carbon emissions by encouraging local production practices and eliminating the majority of the transit. By leveling the playing field, we can ensure that all products reflect their true environmental cost, promoting sustainability and protecting our planet for future generations.

Thank you so much for addressing this issue… I am currently working in the dental insurance billing field and possibly at risk for losing my job due to foreign labor. Dental offices and Insurance companies are outsourcing remote work to foreign countries (such as the Philippines) for cheaper labor. This is taking jobs away from the Americans.
