Do away federal control over mandatory state tests. Teachers are forced to teacher the materials that are on the test. Often called teach-the-test. Teachers hands are tied and can’t encourage students how to problem solve, be creative thinkers, etc. Schools are threatened loss of federal funding if kids do not do well. I have seen first hand how students stress over these tests. Try watching elementary students cry during a test from the pressure they face from the school to do well. The only winner in this process is be test published. They make millions off the backs of students.
