Social Security Trust Fund

  1. A Social Security Trust should be created as was promised by FDR and lied about to the American people.

  2. Social Security and Medicare taxes should paid directly into the Trust and never again into the General Fund.

  3. All Federal and State organizations should be prevented BY law from using fines, lawsuits, penalties, interest etc to pad their own budgets. All such money should be immediately deposited to the Social Security Trust as a return on investment by the American People that they will see as a fully funded Trust.

  4. I’ve experienced the life-saving benefits of SSDI and Medicare when my kidneys suddenly failed at age 50. It is a critical safety net and should be protected, not abused by Congress.

  5. The method for calculating Social Security COLA is deeply flawed if not a criminal fraud. When Biden’s outrageous policies caused double and triple digit inflation for the basics like food, housing and fuel the annual COLA didn’t reflect any of that. The inflated prices remain and Social Security is way behind because Congress wants that money for themselves.

There was a Social Security Trust fund, but it was looted by Congress to fund the Great Society that never materialized. It is now part of the national debt designated as “unfunded liabilities.” DOGE has revealed that government has been paying long dead people Social Security. However well-intentioned the program was, it has been proven to be a fiscal disaster run by government. All the payments into Social Security should be refunded and people should manage their own retirement.

I disagree. The democrats are determined to tax people to the limits. 90% of people can’t afford to deposit to their own retirement and won’t do it and we’ll end up with another Great Depression disaster on our hands. Social Security is a forced plan that both employers and employees contribute to and has a disability and medical insurance component that is pretty damn good as I experienced it when I had sudden terminal kidney failure. Social Security is a sound idea for a safety net.

The constitution should be amended to make it a charge of treason for Congress to borrow or steal from the Social Security Trust. That is an easy adoption.

The Constitution would need to be amended to allow for social programs at the Federal Level. State level social security is fine, but the Constitution was written for state dominated power and very limited federal power. Perhaps Social Security could be transferred to the states for continuation but if it is a total financial disaster, no state would want the responsibility. People are capable of managing their own health care and retirement. Removal of the tax burden (e.g. no income tax) would help greatly in allowing that to happen. The SSA is an overhead burden that is stealing our wealth for no good reason.

I simply want my Social Security payments back with interest for my lifetime of payments in order to help others with their disabilities.

I never did want the govt to take my money from me in order to redistribute it to other people. This is socialism forced on the American People.

If you want to pay into a new Social Security Trust fund, then have at it. But please don’t ask me to continue handomg over a part of my paycheck to help other people, when I need my money to take care of myself. The Federal Govt should simply do what it was told to do in the Constitution and little else more. The Constitution NEVER said to take my money and hand it over to my disabled neighbor. Matter of fact, I think that illegal seizures is mentioned somewhere in the Constitution – ah…there it is…see: 4th Amendment – the right for me to be secure in “my stuff” from unreasonable searches and unreasonable seizures SHALL NOT BE VIOLATED – (note: my paycheck = my stuff). And don’t give me that nonsense about it being “reasonable” to have me work for my neighbor’s special disability needs for X amount of hours per week, forever, until I am dead. That is the VERY DEFINITION of “unreasonable”. My two cents. Thx.

PS - Clifford, just FYI that my post is not directed at you, but moreso toward the government, using your situation as merely an example to further the point. Hope you understand. Thx Clifford.

It’s been so mismanaged, just give me what I put into it back. I will take care of my own retirement trust. It’s all good when trustworthy people are in office. What happens when the democrats get back in? There goes your $$
