My husband received a notice for a cost of living adjustment for his social security. One of the lines was “U.S. federal withholding for non-citizens”
Why are non- citizens collecting social security? Social security was designed wor working CITIZENS to use to fund their retirement. Non-citizens should NOT be getting our hard earned money.
The government keeps saying that social security is running out. This is why! It is being used for people that do not deserve it.
This needs to be stopped.

I agree. Social Security should be for citizens retirement ONLY. However, money is routinely stolen from Social Security by our congressional representatives for their pet projects. Can’t believe they do that but its true and needs to stop.

“U.S. federal withholding for non-citizens” goes into the US Treasury, not out. All wages subject to tax are subject to withholding regardless of citizenship and residency.
In fact, non-citizens and illegals pay in massive sums and many don’t collect social security.

The form that this was on, was from social security, it was a notice to my husband about a cost of living increase. Above that line was how much was being taken out of his ss for medicare. Below the line about non-citizens, was how much they are taken out of his ss for taxes.
If non-citizens are not getting social security, why would a notice from the ss office, have a line for how much taxes are being with held by non-citizens?
Non-citizens should never be allowed to receive ss.

The law says lawfully present non-citizens may receive social security payments. (These payments are not government expenditures in the typical sense. It is the non-citizen money being returned to them, just like my social security checks reflect what I paid in when deductions were taken from my salary).
The reason this is fair and just is that social security income is not a handout, not a charity. It is not costing taxpayers like welfare and food stamps.
We want every worker to pay taxes and comply with income withholding rules, right? We want proper payroll procedures for everyone including legal residents and other non citizens. Social Security income is the money that person paid in via withholdings from their paychecks.
“The law says…”. The whole point of the website is to end all of these b.s. laws that have destroyed the foundation of this country.
This conversation is clearly goal oriented for US Citizens to be able to keep the money they earn, depend upon the money they were (currently forced) to pay out of their paychecks into SS, and to NOT pay taxes on every single penny they earn, own, or receive in distributions; again, again, and again. There should be ZERO $$$ paid to ANYONE who DID NOT pay into SS, including ill / disabled or injured. I’ve known 25 year old POSs claiming back injuries who were living free and clear (and obviously NOT disabled) on the taxpayers backs.
Being forced to support ANY non-citizen is intrinsically wrong. There is nothing stopping able citizens who want to support others to make their donations. LEAVE IT AT THAT.

Agreed 100% with this, there is way to much given to people coming here from other countries and being handed things they did not earn, we all did not work all our lives so these people get all this and not have to earn it like we have.
Social Security is nothing but a joke and a money pot for the damn government to stick their fingers into so they can do whatever the heck they want to. To hell with whatever it was originally intended for. As long as the politicians are becoming multi-millionaires at our expense, they do not care how anything affects us. They are nothing but evil, corrupt thieves and greedy bastards. Every dang one of them!

This is a fine line, when you say, the ill, disabled or injured, a lot of this is the fault of doctor’s, who will ok a person, as one of these categories, they need to tighten up on the guidelines for this, now you have people who we can see clearly who fits into one or all of these categories, then there’s there are the people who are disabled that we clearly don’t see, like PTSD for instance, some these are a disabling disease, that most of the military come home with, some can work some can’t. Then there’s the other people, that have convinced a doctor what they have but don’t really have it but are on disability. Everything needs to be real clear on this of who qualified and who doesn’t.
I sure wish there was a button on here for laughing. You must have a bleeding heart for the illegals who are taking money from our veterans, senior citizens, homeless, etc. There is NO reason whatsoever that these damn illegals, non-citizens or whatever the heck you want to call them, should be getting one red cent of taxpayer money!! Let them stay in their own country and leech off of them!

I will never understand why someone would live their entire life in a country and not become a citizen of that country. That sends a red flag for me. Where do loyalties lie?

Please don’t misread or misunderstand. I am responding to and talking only about social security.
This is a common problem in these types of discussions. The topic gets spread out over too many subjects, and people lose sight of the core point.
Healthcare and/or assistance should NOT be mixed with social security. SS should only be a retirement benefit / pension to the people who paid into it.
Also, our health crisis is most assuredly NOT the fault of the doctors or individual healthcare providers. It is the for profit gov’t and big pharma “system” who have infiltrated every aspect of our society; educating, hiring, manipulating, and directing the protocols for doctors and other providers, as well as the patients / consumers.

I have to agree, it seems this government feels we need to help every person that comes to this county no matter what, illegals are getting a lot free stuff, other immigrant, go to our college have jobs and most of them send lots of money back to there family’s in there country, I don’t if that answered the gentleman response to, do we think there all are illegals.
Why would they become citizens of the United States when they government gives them everything we work for, they don’t have to work for it and the government hands to them.
I would like you to show us where that law is that states, non-citizen may receive social security payments, since they don’t pay into it like the rest of do, the government does enough dipping into other accounts to make up for the loss of moneys, it’s the robbery Peter to pay Paul, things like social security, EBT FEMA, etc account should be untouchable unless being used for what they are for, no exceptions, the government just needs to learn to budge better so these accounts will remain what there for.
Social security money has been a congressional slush fund for years. My recommendation is that SS should be used for retirees ONLY. No other expenditure is valid.

Thank you but after reading this you did not make yourself clear on your statement, it says in the first paragraph.
“Lawfully present noncitizens of the United States who meet all eligibility requirements can qualify for Social Security benefits. This rule also applies to noncitizens authorized to work in the United States who got a Social Security number after December 2003. For more information visit our Immigration page.”, right there, they are eligibility to work, so they would be paying into to Social security, the way you made it sound, was like all non-citizen get Social security, not true. Thank you for showing this law, it might be something that needs to be looked at and maybe changes need to be made.
