Single Issue Bills for Congress

Not only pork but for example the schools covid cares money had ev buses in it.

If you don’t vote it doesn’t count and if you are missing more than 3 times you are fired and the state holds an election. Here in nys they have thing where they can make rules- so our quarantine camp is alive and well. It’s in court again- but only constitutional laws should be made.

Maybe get rid of the bills that are strictly partisan and require tit for tat favors because they are not good for us. For decades the Republicans wanted more money for war, while the Democrats wanted more money for social services. Each side got what they asked for and now we have a monstrous military industry and a bloated social service industry both of which are being run by and fleeced by private contractors.

Agree! Thomas Massie needs to be supported on this issue.

I agree with this bill, especially any bill enacted needs to be for everyone, especially elected officials. They should have the same health care benefits as everyone else. Also, they should not be allowed to determine their pay.

I have mixed feelings about term limits. If the people approve of the work of a legislator, why should they be unable to vote to keep that person in office?

Each and every bill SHALL HAVE a video from each elected official reading and explaining the bill, their stance, estimated costs, and how it fits INSIDE of The Constitution of Our Republic. Companion videos from senior aides at SCOTUS who have analyzed the bill for how it fits into The Constitution of Our Republic must ALSO be available. Complete and unedited transcripts MUST be available on all videos for those who don’t want to listen to long-winded gas bags who appear to love to hear themselves speaking and fully believe that you should suffer through it. An additional summary transcript MUST also be available.

Proven citizens need to be able to comment and ask questions that are answered to make certain that things are fully understood. No bills can be voted on, without completing this entire process, or an emergency need is voted in by 75% of those who hold the ability to vote on the bill to bypass the process completion, and those votes shall be available for viewing. This in no way negates any other part of this process. Even though the bill was expedited, all other items must be done. Costs need to be monitored and tracked, including Employment Numbers, government fleet vehicle ownership and usage, including airplanes, facilities, salaries, utilities and the like for a complete cost accounting for all to plainly see with concrete effectiveness of the bill listed over the life of that bill.

When a bill is shown by tracking not to work, the bill MUST be repealed and all government spending on it must end, and this includes laying off useless government employees. Yes, if their jobs didn’t do what is needed, they have become useless government employees.

We can no longer continue to grow government on lies like ‘The War On Poverty,’ or ‘The War On Drugs’ and continue to spend trillions more dollars because nitwits, liars, or both say that is all that is needed when we have completely proven that as Reagan stated, ‘The Nine Most Terrifying Words – ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’ This concept is not new to many, but it is ignored by The Kleptocracy that is running our Republic into the ground. With the government’s continued growth we can be certain that Poverty and Drugs have won both of those wars, but the bloat and theft of our money continue to grow and MANY layoffs should already have happened.

So, if it can’t be read and explained by those who would vote it up or down, it can’t become law.

If it doesn’t fit into Our Constitution, it can’t become law.

No more laws that are left in limbo sucking up stolen tax dollars for generations without accomplishing the goal.

Laws apply to everyone in our nation, and zero tax dollars can be used to payoff people to stay silent about criminal activities.

Now, since technology has advanced so far, ALL politicians and their staff SHALL BE REQUIRED to move their offices back to their respective states in order to lower those living in the cess pool the Washington has become. All voting is done with retina and fingerprint scan identification for all bills. All meetings are held over Video, and unless an actual Security issue is in discussion, and this doesn’t include security issues to hide criminal activity, all registered voters SHALL HAVE access to these videos for streaming.

All political staff discussions SHALL BE recorded on video and all registered voters SHALL HAVE access to these discussions, unless they meet the security requirements above, and ALL of these videos SHALL BE in the Public Domain.

If politicians want to have jobs with privacy, then go back to the general workforce. These people work for us, not the other way around.

I respectfully recommend an add-on topic for inclusion of the One Subject at a Time policy.

The regulatory agencies of the Executive branch lack accountability to the people.

Would it be good to have congress stipulate limits of power as to how federal agencies aee permitted to regulate the laws that congress passes? Should congress require after implementation follow up on how a bill Impacted society relative to their intent in passing the bill and making it a law?

The link below seeks your ideas for how to effectively shrink regulatory drag from unelected bureaucracy on the people’s liberty.

I have been saying this for years! A bill should be about one issue.

Agreed, two term representative democracy should be the standard. Also, keep the pension that they currently have. The job/role of an elected official should be to work your tail off for two terms and do so much for your constituency that when you are done, you can retire. If you are truly working hard for your people, it will be all worth it at the end of the day.

Slowing down new legislation being passed without prope due diligence of its well understood impact is 100% EXACTLY why this policy for One Subject at a Time is necessary.

The congress has a responsibility to be able to understand the impacts of the laws it seeks to pass and to evaluate the effectiveness of the outcomes of it relative to the original intent.

Presently, congress and the implementing federal agencies are a runaway locomotive train in terms of their ability to effectively assess and evaluate the laws being passed and implemented. It’s all a hot mess of crappy government that needs to be reined in and better controlled by limiting the scope.

I agree 110%

Agree 100%; additionally annual appropriation bills must be stand alone. If our representatives (US House and US Senate) fail to be accountable to we the people, they should be recalled or resign in order for a true citizen-patriot replacement to do the work of the people.

Eliminate Continuing Resolution for failing to achieve single issue budgeting.

If it is a bill that requires funding, most will, there is a mandatory sunset term that kills the bill at 5 years. This would ensure balance budget amendments would succeed. A reset period on all new bills would give congress an opportunity to see how effective the bill has been. The five year period gets it to the next administration to sign. The second ratification could be for a longer period. There are too many laws on the book that have no bearing on todays governance.

Perfect! Much needed change in how Congress serves the people.

Yes!

AI (with guidance) can do the work of summarizing and ensuring anyone with a 9th grade education can read the bill.

This is a must have for Congress. We need to eliminate all the nonsense so real bills can get passed without extra unnecessary legislation

Need to define “single issue”. Unfortunately things can be combined under an “umbrella” issue that doesn’t address the problems stated here.

Add line item veto
