Please look at Armor Thyroid and other options to synthetic drugs to treat thyroid issues. I’m five years away from Medicare and learned that this is not an option once I have to use government healthcare. I, also, would like an explanation as to why insurance won’t cover it.

Please quash the FDA’s proposed back door ban on pork thyroid medications slated for 2029. The proposal is to reclassify desiccated pork thyroid as a biologic that will require trials and safety testing.
Since the medication will not be patentable, drug manufacturers will not spend the money to conduct clinical trials and safety testing (on a medication that has over 100 years of safety and efficacy).
Thyroid treatment has been a scam since the TSH test was invented; it does not test thyroid function, but a pituitary function. Thyroid patients are managed by a test that does not test for their true condition and Synthroid drugs do not work for many suffers, relying on an ability to convert R4 to useable T3. NDT (desiccated thyroid) supplies all 5 hormones we are no longer able to make.
Big Pharma designed the lousy test, created a lousy and has funded medical schools physician education to treat thyroid patients with a lousy, in effective drug.
Further, the FDA has closed the only US manufacturer of the raw, active ingredient; American Labs in Omaha, NE supplied a very fine pork active ingredient. Now that ingredient is supplied by a Chinese company, Sichuan Friendly that is sub-par, has had recalls and has been a manufactured crisis to steer thyorid patients back to the arms of Big Pharma and the lousy T4 only meds like Synthroid.
