Restrict retail working hours on certain holidays

Businesses should have limited hours on holidays such as Thanksgiving, which revolves around “dinnertime” (12-9 pm). Businesses should be allowed to open from 9-12 a.m. only. What ends up happening is part time workers must cover shifts for full time employees on holidays and if they don’t they can be fired, yet scheduling them for long hours on the holiday takes the holiday away from them too. If the holiday involves a morning celebration, such as Easter or Christmas, businesses should not be allowed to open at all. This should be the case for all major religious/ethnic holidays, depending on the importance of the celebration for that religion and the time it takes place. Either that or give incentives to businesses not to open or reduce their hours. As an aside, I am not sure that businesses perceive that when they engage in this practice or other inhumane practices people do not view them favorably and some employees remember this later when they are no longer college students or low-level employees! Being kind is something that is never out of style and in fact can bring in even more money, especially long-term.
