I do not understand how people making more than the average American by a vastly larger amount are supposed to represent people that they can’t relate to on a monetary level.
If a states average income is under 200k
the representative for that state should not be making 200k, news flash all representatives in congress are in the top 1 percent of income earners and the people they represent vastly are not.
We glamorize government workers while they insider trade illegally and profit millions while in office. It’s obvious and is grotesque that it happens frequently. And that’s on both sides of the aisle. Swamp runs deep.
If you represent a state with an average income of 50k well you should get payed on average of what the people you represent make, it would incentivize economical ideas for states to expand their people’s quality of life by a state by state basis.
Also a congressional pension after 5 years is utter bull shit and that’s exactly what it is.
