What is FFA? Is that Family Farm Alliance?
Future Farms of America. Most states have it, but only rural areas have it. It needs expanded and funded.
Thereâs also 4H.

Thanks for the motivation.
GET FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS fed gov + guidelines have destroyed education and health, care. Bring everything back to State and local communities. Make communities have schools healthy again. Good focus, just bring back to local! Allow parents control again!
Some grade schools could start a small garden program and grow vegetables. Kids would learn so much about science and food, and would be more inclined to eat healthy food THEY GREW.
Whole grains are not processed by definition. White breads are processed. Our children deserve unprocessed, whole foods without all the harmful chemicals and ingredients that were made in some lab. Europe has banned most of those chemicals and Asia has done a great job with school lunches.
When FIXING big problems; it often takes the elimination of that problem first.
Americans need to change their ATTITUDE about food entirely, and allow their bodies to work the way it was meant to work. ie; HEALTH
Then the FOOD INDUSTRY will change.
When the ORGANICS, what ever it costs, reaches an equilibrium of cost effectiveness for family to income levels, then the demand works for itself.
Attitude, Health, Income, Diet, DemandâŚ
Yes, I like your ideas.
Make School Lunch Like a Cooking Show.
Teaching them how to run a restaurant.
From cooking, to presentation/plating, to serving, to cleanup. Make it only a quarter or semester, so every student who wants to can have a chance at it.
Let students Vote on their favorite meals created by the students, motivating them to do good work.
Learning how to cook healthy, instead of eating fast foods, will save them money, and slow the obesity epidemic.
When I went to school I took vocational Auto Shop and could have been a certified mechanic straight out of high school. I also took two years of woodworking. I may not have done these things as a career, but that knowledge translates into being able to fix so many things in life, home and work. Typing Class, was what I utilized most in my career from High School.
There are so many trades they could learn in High School to make productive members of society.

Yes!
As an educator, your job is to educate the kids with their basic abcâs and 123âs, NOT to impose your own activist based personal views about what is good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. Are you a qualified physician!?, if so then what crime did you commit that relegated you to a mere teachers position? Why dont you leave the matters of what is healthy or not up to the kidsâ parents and their doctors. Stay in your own lane! And stay out of our homes! If you cant accept that reality, THEN RESIGN! and find a new profession!
Robert Bruce, to whom are you referring? The original poster and policy suggester? It doesnât sound like it, but if you are, the following reply is in order⌠(yours in bold. then my reply)âŚ
As an educator, your job is to educate the kids with their basic abcâs and 123âs, NOT to impose your own activist based personal views about what is good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. She is not in this forum to educate kids about reading and math â she has created a policy post (like you, me or any other person might easily do) suggesting the removal of processed garbage from our childrenâs lunch rooms, replacing it with more healthy unprocessed foods. Based on the posts so far, it is quite popular with everyone (perhaps with the exception of you). This forum is not about imposing activist personal views â it is about posting policy desires, getting feedback and metrics on the activity surrounding it, and if popular by the people, have the best of this feedback turned into possible actionable policy.
Are you a qualified physician!? In this forum, one does not need to hold a degree to suggest a policy.
if so then what crime did you commit that relegated you to a mere teachers position? I donât recall teachers needing an outstanding criminal history on their resume to get a teaching position.
Why dont you leave the matters of what is healthy or not up to the kidsâ parents and their doctors. This would assume that the poster of the policy should not have created the policy for current discussion. Has it occurred to you that, like others here, and as a parent and grandparent, We donât need advise from you, or another parent, or especially another parentâs family doctor in order for us to agree (or disagree) with forum posts and policy proposals. And since most of us already know that this is âgood and healthyâ policy â we donât need to consult a physician on such a fundamental subject such as âGeneral Healthâ.
Stay in your own lane! And stay out of our homes! She is doing exactly as this forum suggests her to do: propose policies for The People in order to generate discussion which might lead to possible actionable change. She is not knocking on your front door or crawling through your kitchen window to spy on your mixing bowl, and to see if you added any methylchloroisothiazolinone or FD&C Yellow #5 into your pancakes, I can assure you.
If you cant accept that reality, THEN RESIGN! and find a new profession! She is not here to âlook for realityâ or âfind gainful employmentâ. The fact that she is putting forth suggested policy to change the garbage being served in Americaâs lunchrooms means that she is quite in touch with ârealityâ already. Unfortunately, it might appear to everyone else here that it is you who is trapped in a âfantasyâ.

And those small things we teach to kids that ACTUALLY care about the subject will stick with them forever, I remember my school offered a personal finance class and while it wasnât the best financial advice it was leagues better than what most people know at that age got. A lot of that info stuck with me and Iâve grown on that knowledge today
Exactly no more Frozen crap make everything fresh even if they have to start in early morning to start cooking but everything made from fresh fruits and vegetables and meat and prepared like you would at home I totally agree with you, my kids are grown but I have grand kids in school now
This is not a federal issue and should be left to the states
Your point Zimmerman? Should the policy suggestion and ongoing discussion now be deleted from the forum because you stated that it wasnât a federal issue?
WellâŚthis is a forum to try to affect change at a national level. This is a state legislature issue. By pushing the federal govenment into an area clearly not allowed bybthe 10th amendment or article 4, we are creating âBIGâ government and deep state.
I beg to differâŚthis is a forum that I use to affect change at all levels of government. Are you now stating that I should go back and remove hundreds of posts because you insist we only discuss federal-level issues?
I did not state that, nor did I suggest it. To do that would be an infringement on your 1st amendment right to free speech.
