Relocate several federal agencies to economically distressed cities

Washington, D.C. is a company town, with everyone feasting from the same trough. Today, 76 percent of District residents are Democrats while just 6 percent are Republicans. The culture is fixated on expanding the power and wealth of the federal workers and lobbyists.
Housing and Urban Development could be moved to Detroit, providing a boon to the city’s economy and forcing those employees who remain with the agency to face head-on the difficulties of American cities.
Put the EPA in Flint, Michigan. Health and Human Affairs in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Etc.

I agree we need to move out of DC. We did get one Department moved out during Trumps term than the current administration moved it back.

I get where you’re coming from, but do you mean to tell me your plan is to add more inefficiency to government?

Good question. I tried to keep it brief, so i didn’t spell out my thoughts in full.
I believe much of what they do is unnecessary, and some is harmful. But as reagan said, “A government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.”
I also believe the number of d.c. bureaucrats who would move to Flint, Michigan, is very small, providing an opportunity to finally slash many of these programs – without the headache of firing federal employees.
Let’s move the Department of Education to Jackson, MS, and see how many of these dedicated professionals show up.

With zoom, moving agencies out of one tiny area should not cause any efficiency.

I think this is a great idea. Not only to help to spread out the wealth, but because DC is full of government hacks. There are very few Republicans there so even with control over the presidency, policy doesnt change. Dc hacks have no idea how farms even run.
