Voters should not be registered to vote when acquiring a driver’s license or Identification Card. A person should not be registered to vote for a party, they are not afiliated with, without their knowledge. Applying for Identification should not include voter registration. This would ensure intentional voter registration by the voter, for the party of their choosing.

I agree. I mean really…what does a license to drive have to do with voting in an election? Govt agencies are slow and resistant to change – that is simply their nature. They like following routine and hate changing it. The only way that these two disparate actions of licensing and voting came together is because someone, somewhere forced them together. Now, if someone forced them together, what was the ulterior motive for that? You have two options to guess at it: 1) They wanted to get more potential voters to be legal car drivers; or 2) They wanted more people who were not car drivers to become legal voters. Now go to the next level. What is the fastest growing population of adults who are not legal car drivers. I think you can start completing this train of logic on your own.
And perhaps you can come to a well-founded suspicion that the (very unrelated) acts of license registration and voting registration came together because someone, somewhere, wanted to influence voting a certain way, right?
Bottom line – we need to separate the two actions and put them back like before. Voting applications should remain at the post office and the court house, and not become strangely and suspiciously integrated into the DMV (or any other govt agency) process. If not for any other reason, it should be done because it now represents a potential threat to our electorial outcomes. because someone, somewhere decided it so.

First of all I hope the DMV is done away with. They license us to travel. A right guaranteed to us not legislated to us. They charge exorbitant fees for the ability to use our roads. Get rid of them too

Agree. I was asked to register to vote after renewing my license. The ID I used was my greencard. Now why would they ask me to register when I can’t vote? I obviously told them no. I can’t vote. So you can see how this can create issues with those who cannot vote and not understand they can’t vote.
