Police Training

New police officers should do 1 yr internships at local schools or a minimum of 450 hours. They should do car line, drive buses, be substitutes and assistants to the teachers, cafeteria workers or one on ones for students who need extra help- this way they can LEARN THEIR COMMUNITY, they should know the families they protect. They will also have intimate knowledge of the school grounds and can help prevent violence on campuses. They can help coach sports, or other extra curriculars/clubs; developing relationships of trust and support.
Currently there is a massive divide between those who are supposed to serve and protect and the local community-It’s time they did the work on knowing who they are serving and protecting. They should also be required to do 8 hrs of continuing education a year with preschool teachers.
