The People should have the power to veto any policy, bills, regulations, and laws. If it's not related to safety, or causes some of us harm or economic hardship, however, if the current policy is causing harm, causes economic hardship, or causes despair to any of us.
The People should also be able to veto appointees and promotions. If, for example, a judge has bias, justice could never be done. If an appointee is moving to a higher position but has never completed an audit and always needs more money to do it, it's time to veto their appointment. It would also be an opportunity for another American.
The People should absolutely be the only ones that can change anything, add amendments, and remove amendments.
The People should be able to veto funding, grants, and appropriations for impractical, exorbitant, or wasteful spending.
Some countries, like Switzerland, have voter democracies where all major decisions are put to a vote. It’s a charming idea.
The Founding Fathers, however, decided a Republic would be less chaotic.
I keep in mind that 250 years ago, Americans would duel and kill each other over disagreements. We got both a Republic and an adversarial legal system in their attempts for civility.
Thank you so much. I don’t want us to have to go through a long process in Congress, then Senate, then president before getting unconditional items out. Examples would be what’s been happening with freedoms of speech and information, ect. I’d be grateful, your time allowing, for any edit suggestions. We shouldn’t be in this trap. I’m following a bill right now, Rep Hagemen is having to do gymnastics over them wanting to continue servailance on us. It shouldn’t take so much. Also, I don’t want to pay for methed up goldfish on treadmills (unbelievable) or such things. There’s not enough checks and balances. If someone votes for raping, molesting, women + child beating illegal migrants, they should be walked out. If the are really protecting migrants, they will suffer most from this policy. It leaves their voters with no representation. We do have some good reps though, on both sides. Thank you again for your time
Perhaps a private sector venture to create citizen oversight of budgets (like DOGE, but at the Congressional district level)?
