Owelet monitors (though imperfect) offered a lot of peace of mind when it came to newborns and sleep. However, when the FDA insisted they had to change it from an alarm to only giving you an “average” oxygen rate after several minutes… that seems ridiculous to me. As a parent, I should have the option to put up (with false alarms/my baby kicking it off and me needing to reattach the monitor) in the event there’s a real issue. Instead, we got a very watered-down version in order to please the FDA and potentially not save babies’ lives.
