We have been making people aware of this for years but profit over patients continues. The government is saving money with medicare by not providing proper care. It’s cheaper to drug them to death. Despite the number of people who report and request investigations the response is the same - if the person was enrolled in hospice they were dying. That is not accurate. Our loved ones were not. Hospice encourages people to enroll sooner when they should not. I would love for someone who cares to do a real investigation.

I worked as a physician for 41 years, never saw what you are discussing. End of life care is a discussion between family and care givers. Goal is to ease suffering and listen to family and patient. Medication management is part of the discussion. Hospice makes money because people continue to receive services, not when they die. Hospitals discharge terminally ill patients, they have no incentive to provide hospice services in the acute hospital setting. Death in the hospital counts against a hospital’s quality goals.
Gayle, Extremely sorry to hear hospice treated your loved ones with their euthanasia protocol. It happened to my father as well. Would you consider voting for my proposal to change how hospices are paid by medicare to end hospices unethical practices (i.e.-euthanasia)?
