One bill health insurance

  1. Insurance companies should not dictate care.
  2. Medical providers should provide a mandatory one-cost written quote prior to procedure whether you have insurance or not.
  3. There should only be one bill from medical provider not 10 bills for one procedure, and the bill should match the quote.
  4. Do away with copays, co-insurance. One health insurance premium bill that covers health, mental, prescriptions etc. W/1 deductible, period. Like car insurance. No exceptions. One cost for total care coverage. That includes Medicare. One health provider company, one premium bill, one deductible, one bill from doctor performing care.

I think we should eliminate all health insurance companies except for catastrophic coverage. If you like to hang glide, have history of hard drug use, morbid obesity, even things like IVF can result in a hospital bill into the millions from having multiples, then you should get catastrophic coverage.

If we took all that money that goes to the insurance companies to pay all their employees (their sales people routinely make half a million- maybe a million for a job that should exist), buildings, profit and actually put it toward actual health care there would be plenty of money in the healthcare systems. The trick has got to be to control the greed. Profit without taking advantage of people.

The first thing we need to do is get drug and device prices down. The US often pays more for the same medical supplies and this should not be happening. The US needs to get the same or better pricing from every company that participates in the US market. We deserve fairness in pricing. This is not price setting or anti-capitalism. But if you are going to sell a drug/device in Asia or Europe, you have to give the US the same or better price (I only say “better” because the US tax payer dollars go toward so much research, more so than lots of other countries.) We already have a system in place with Medicare as far as pricing services which can be used to help determine a reasonable premium. Some reform is necessary in the actual health systems. There is a tremendous amount of profit in some of these healthcare systems that shouldn’t exist. They often cherry pick their patients and send the lower paying or non-paying or less profitable procedures to the country hospitals. I’m not usually for limiting profits but when it comes to healthcare there need to be major regulations to balance profit and advancing technology with quality healthcare at a fair price.

Including ER visits. The cost should be disclosed before treatment. As it stands, it’s more expensive for someone with healthcare insurance to go through their provider than it is to not. Why are we paying so much if we are getting punished for having it in the long run?!

Also, if we do NOT use it then we should get credits towards at least the deductible for future use because we have “saved” the insurance companies money in the long run.

We need to stop the pyramid scheme of healthcare. It’s putting everyone in debt and screwing the healthcare professionals in the long run along with us.
