As a teacher of 30+ yrs it fails me why the government doesn’t have actual educators, administrators and even parents on national education committees who determine what is taught! Stop putting people who’ve not spent years in the trenches of public school in charge!!
History needs to be taught factually including those years or events where White men ir people were not acting in socially or ethically correct ways. Civil rights, Native American Indians, Chinese immigration, slavery and so on. Textbooks used today eliminate or soften the storyline.
As a Sex Education teacher, direct facts need to be taught. The male or female body work certain ways, have specific characteristics and are healthiest by following these actions. Conversation of other concepts can be taught - factually as something that isn’t “abnormal” but something that just “IS”. Let families de use how they handle children who feel “different” . AGE APPROPRIATE topics to be taught in Health classes!!!
Stop changing reading and Math teaching methods. We are dumbing down these subjects!! Reading and Math should be required in EVERY subject matter’s daily lesson!
