Merit Based Immigration

The Government should make immigration decisions based on merit and what is best for its current citizens, not what is best for the applicant. The US should make immigration decision based upon determined skills, professions, backgrounds(checking criminal history), and wealth.

Those with in demand professions - engineers, doctors, etc - should be skipped to the front of the line.

I completely agree with this. Merit could change based on needs - it might be engineers or could be restaurant workers.

I know other countries do it this way as well, and it makes sense to me.
