Charge one price for Medicare and do away with excess iirma fees based on income. Just because you might make more one year, does not mean that you should pay more. You are not any healthier or sicker.
Why have to go over everyone’s taxes each year to determine this ridiculous increase. Seems like a great program to get rid of.
IIRMA lags income by 2 years. That creates an undue burden on people with large fluctuation in income. If someone gets a windfall of income (large dividend, capital gain distribution, etc), they are burdened with the consequences of IIRMA until well after the positive impacts of that windfall. Every Medicare recipient has paid handsomely into the plan. After 65, when their income very likely drops due to retirement and perhaps taking SS, they should not pay more, but should be able to use the $ in the program to address their medical needs. Bottom line: single fee/tax until age 65, then no more paying into the system. If their isn’t sufficient funds in the system to fund medicare under this revised policy, intense budget scrutiny and other discretionary budget/funding cuts should be made (this should happen regardless); we as a nation spend an excess on things that are not necessary to run a country.
