Simply put, make a policy that makes entry level jobs entry level. Make it where they do not need prior experience. Penalize businesses who put out ghost job listings, especially for claiming they are always hiring just to get tax breaks. Also, make it to where they cannot continously extract from interns without paying them.
My Partner has been job searching for over 6 months now and has heard back from 2 places, both ghosting him after. He’s a smart guy with a 4.0 GPA and can’t even get a job as a cashier. Not only should we be making entry level jobs entry level again, but we need to do a serious investigation on ghost listings
Also HR should be hiring for transferrable skills. Highly educated people cannot get jobs because they are pigeon holed and over experienced.
And bring back employers on the job training and ability to take seminars for training; decrease need for certificates and degrees should be put back in place. Many years ago people were trained on the job and/or took training seminars. Now everyone has to have a certificate or degree for jobs that don’t really need entire degrees or certificates. People go into debt to be underpaid for what they owe.
