Linemen, Highway Maintenance workers recognized nationwide as First Responders

During times of natural disasters, linemen and highway maintenance workers are the first ones out to clean up the trees and powlines that prevent the other first responders to get to the people in need. These employees are required to be at work or traveling for work as the worst of the storm comes in. At the current time, these workers are not treated as first responders. They need to be classified nationwide as first responders.
