In Europe, an ultralight can have higher weights and speeds than in the United States and; can have two seats; and can even have retractable landing gear, constant speed propellers, and—yes—an electric, piston, or turbine engine. And there’s essentially no max cruise limit.
We should increase access to flight for Americans. For most getting a pilot’s license and operating a plane are too expensive. Let’s open up the ultralight standards so ever American with a drivers license can fly. Specifically increase ultralight speeds, weights and allow two seats. This will also open up the accessibly to the new electric VTOLS being made as commuters.
