Imported farmraised shrimp

Imported farm raise shrimp is an environmental catastrophe of epic proportions. The most popular seafood in the world today is shrimp, 95% of all the shrimp consumed in the world today are grown on farms in third world countries. These aquaculture farms are destroying the coastal regions of these countries. Aquaculture has destroyed one third of the worlds mangroves, they genetically alter the shrimp, they use growth hormones, they use pelitized feeding and they use some of the most powerful antibiotics know to man to keep them for becoming diseased. Farmraise shrimp are produced in much of the world with slave labor. They are dumping so much farmraise shrimp on the world that the price of shrimp today is lower than it has ever been in reel dollars. Our domestic Wild Caught Shrimp Industry is dying today because of farmraised shrimp. We in the US can produce Wild Caught Shrimp very sustainably and we could see the industry come back with some control on the inspection of the imports to make sure they are safe to eat and perhaps tariffs to create a level playing field for our domestic Shrimping Industries.
