Introducing the “Homeownership Protection Policy”, an initiative designed to preserve the accessibility of single-family homes for individual American buyers. This policy prohibits large firms, investment funds, and corporations with assets exceeding $500 million from purchasing single-family residences. To prevent companies from circumventing this limit by spinning off related entities or subsidiaries, the policy includes provisions that aggregate the assets of affiliated businesses to accurately reflect their total market influence. Additionally, the policy bans any foreign entities from owning single-family housing in the United States. By restricting both large-scale domestic and foreign acquisitions of single-family homes, this policy aims to prevent inflated property prices caused by investment speculation. It ensures that housing remains affordable and accessible to families and first-time homebuyers, fostering stronger communities and promoting social stability. Ultimately, the “Homeownership Protection Policy” supports the American dream of homeownership and contributes to a healthier, more equitable economy by keeping homes within reach of everyday citizens.
So investment firms need to spin off a new company every 500 million? This does not address airBnB, foreigners, and illegals owning houses made for Americans.
If you read the post your first issue was addressed. By including corporate structures. Illegals shouldnt be here. And he specifically stopped foriegn. And responsible americans should be able to buy airbnb as long as they are under 500m
I think that the threshold should be lower than the $500 million proposed here. The goal would be to preserve single family homes for families, but not limit people from owning multiple properties.
500m is a ridiculously high threshold.
Residential property is not for speculation. Invest somewhere else.
Is $500,000,000 too high of a threshold and should this apply to land as well as the structures classified as single-family homes?
Would it be feasible to move these investments into purchasing land?
NO! ZERO corporations should be allowed to purchase residential property or land. If they purchase to build a community and sell it, yes. NO out of the country purchase of land. This cap is WAYYY to high. No.
I came here to propose same thing!
