My parents get 80+ calls a day from scammers and sometimes they get hit with a scam because they thought it was related to healthcare. We need a group specifically to track down and bring these scammers to justice.
I think most Americans these days want to see less government agencies and less government employees screaming for a shrinking pie of tax revenue. Perhaps we can provide such a service as a national non-profit humanitarian watchdog group, employing our younger generation with entry-level remote jobs for much-needed on the job training while in high school and college? Students who are tech-savvy and going into computer-related or public relations and communications jobs would be the perfect tool for going after other hackers and telephone scammers. And credit may even be given to go on resumes for future job interviews. How does that work?
I agree but that will be difficult, since they can delete what they are using and start a new one, just so they don’t get caught at it, the best thing for your parents is not to answer any phone calls they don’t know, or respond to any of the emails about it, that’s the best way scammers get us older people.
I completely agree, this is the solution to the problem.
And your approach is definitely the most taxpayer-affordable one here…rofl!
You get the “Cheap Star” by far!
Well do you have a better idea let’s hear it
It was right above your own post – I was only funnin’ with ya and giving credit for being cheap – cheap is good, this day and age, with all of the spending we have already done. You can laugh now…twas meant in humor.
How about make the NSA responsible for tracking telecommunication fraud and working with the DOJ to prosecute individuals, or roll them into RICO cases where appropriate?
That might work if they do that job, they may have to wright programs to do it but I think it’s possible
Stop all healthcare for old people but Medicare. And if u retired with something. As a person who has dealt with these insurance. Those other companies. Medicare is your best choice. They get those bc you may pay less but u get a lot less. I promise.
That takes away insurance problems.
Figure out how to block all USA numbers from coming in from overseas unless you call “a certain division” and say we r going on vacation and need our phones for 2 weeks ect.
If you have a landline, your phone rings. Imagine your phone ringing 80/day and having to check your caller id# each time. I never pick up my landline phone. I wait until the end of the day and play back the messages. However, if you are waiting to hear from your medical doctor of any other important call, it’s maddening and crazy making… It needs to be stopped somehow.
I get it. My parents were taken more than once. But this could probably be fixed with a law instead of a new government agency.
How about a law that gives a warning when calls are international. The law should make all phone vendors forward identify the country of origin and forward this warning whenever a call is re-routed. Finally, there should be a method for all phone to be able to report a caller as a scammer (#SCAM) or solicitor (#SALE) with a process that makes that source number get an additional warning. You should also be able to report numbers that you call, to report internet-based out-going call scams. This way, as people figure out who the scammers are, they can report them and help future callers with a warning message.
This would also create a potential job value, as it may promote fewer call centers being out-sourced.
We have too many “police” in the federal government already. One federal police organization: it’s called: the FBI. Too many armed agencies. DoD for defence and DoJ for law enforcement. Period.
I’m a senior and understand your frustration with the scammers but we definitely don’t need a new agency. We are trying to downsize this bloated government
Everyone needs to be careful. People call pretending to be a relative or a friend asking for money. They have all the information on us, can scam a voicecall by using AI to simulate a persons voice. Now they can even scam your face with AI. My advice, come up with a secret password that only you all know.
PLEASE! NO MORE PASSWORDS!!
ELON: Please think of something foolproof, economical and reliable for next to nothing that works with current equipment. PLEASE?
Especially protect the public from scam robocalls.
There’s billions of dollars being paid out of Medicare to scammers who call people and get $150 out of Medicare to review Medicare supplements. They get $650 if they talk The person you’re changing plans. This is money that’s just sent abroad to Africa or wherever the scammer is. Money that’s not spent on health Care money that just goes out of the country.
