US citizens are required to pay into Social Security. Therefore their monthly payments should be reflective of the amount of time they paid in with INTEREST.
If US citizens weren’t forced to pay into Social Security they would have had the option to make their own decisions where to make investments. In those instances seniors would be receiving interest and some of the investments could’ve made a huge difference in retirement for senior citizens. Social Security is paying bare minimum without paying interest that they would’ve gotten with investments Of their choice . Seniors are getting a fraction of what they paid in and that’s not fair.
It’s not the fault of American citizens that the government mismanaged Social Security funds. People paid in they should have a fair distribution WITH INTEREST. Senior citizens should not be living in poverty Or forced to work into their 80s…
Because Social Security has been totally mismanaged by Congress it is gonna run out at some point, but it’s not the fault of the people. People have paid in their entire lives and they deserve to get a sufficient monthly payment above and beyond our current payment structure. The Social Security structure needs to change and some of the billions that are sent to other countries such as Ukraine needs to get funded into Social Security. If we can come up with $200 billion for Ukraine we can come up for Funding for Social Security to help our own people.
