Enhance the options of social security

Not knocking social security, it could be a very good program, especially for those who aren’t the best at saving. Below are two options that I personally feel like should be a no brainer.

  • Option 1: The government should have zero access to dipping into social security funds, under any circumstance. It’s a fund, not a charitable account and it should be their for the people who contributed to it when they’re ready to retire.

  • Option 2: Personally I want this option, make social security OPTIONAL. I could take that money and invest it better than the government has. This option should only be used by individuals who know they don’t need social security as a means for retirement. I personally hate seeing social security being ripped out every check, knowing damn well I will see barely any return or even see any of it at all by the time I retire. We need to teach our youth about safe retirements and how to invest money.

Making money forgot about what happens if we don’t.

SS needs to be revamped, but the politicians use it as a weapon every four years. I agree that certain people should be able to opt out, but that criteria eludes me. Like you, I’ve made more money investing outside SS, but looking around not everyone has the skills for this. The education system is dumbing down our children.

The option of opting out is a double edged sword it seems like. Knowing the American people, the ones who need SS most will be the ones opting out to pay bills or a new consumer item they don’t need
