In the beef industry we are narrowed down to 4 major meat packing companies. This has ruined our marketing opportunities and it has forced many feeders into marketing agreements with a meat packer. We are losing our market transparency and there is no more cash trade. It’s all controlled by the major meat packer. Under packers and stockyards act (if it was actually enforced) we should have never even let this consolidation to begin! We need to break up the 4 major meat packers and bring more competition back into the market. 4 major meat packers isn’t a secure food supply. Also is killing off the family farmer.
