Design a new 501c designation to create non-profit health insurance organizations

Create a new 501c designation specifically for non-profit health insurance organizations.

Organizations would accept yearly premium straight from individuals which would then be tax deductible or provide a tax credit to those individuals at the end of the year for obtaining health insurance. Call it the healthy citizen tax credit.

This would aid in providing affordable health insurance options to the public while giving them tax incentives to offset up front costs.

This plan would also aid in removing the insurance plan financial burden from certain employers especially small business owners.

This plan would allow for the profit incentive to be removed accompanied by goverment oversight while also providing competition within the market. Unlike a single payer system which grants full control to the government this plan would allow that market competition to drive premium prices down or flatline them as by removing the profit incentive excess revenue is placed back into the organozation lowering or flatlining premium costs as more insureds buy into the coverage.

If these organizations are given room to breathe and through government pressure universally accepted at all medical facilities they would in time eliminate the majority of for profit health insurance companies as the large majority of healthy, young and working class Americans will choose the cheaper option that provides tax breaks and identical coverage.
