Concentrate deportation efforts on red states, and let blue states continue to deal with the cost and strain of welcoming and caring for illegal immigrants.
Also, DEFUND any sanctuary states: no federal funds for them!
Indeed, by focusing enforcement on cooperative states one can avoid a lot of additional litigation plus the illegals will tend to relocate to the sanctuary states. Couple this with a prohibition on any federal funding to a government entity not fully supporting efforts to enforce immigration law. Faced with a mass of people, financial pain and a public uproar over the situation the ideologues have gotten the sanctuary into they will come around.
The problem with this approach is that illegal immigrants are counted in the US Census which in turn determines how many congressional representatives the state is entitled to. The Democratic party is using illegal immigrants to ensure they maintain their power in Congress. In addition, in states like CA, illegal immigrants can vote. No ID required. This makes it more difficult for Republicans to win districts. The illegal immigrants have to go!
We need to clean and flush the entire toilet…not just one side of it.
@Skippy: That’s a really good point. The illegal aliens do need to go, I agree. In the mean time, why not purge them from the census? They are not legal residents. We also don’t let tourists vote, etc., or arrange congressional representatives around them.
@thecountryatlarge:
I’m so sick of this ongoing intentional misunderstanding of how the system is supposed to work. We’ve never counted illegal aliens as residents before. Residency is something that gets legally granted, it is not the same thing as being here long term and considering yourself to live here therefore. They don’t get to vote, they don’t get free stuff and ebt cards, etc. They aren’t allowed to be here that’s why they’re called “illegal”, because they came here illegally. Someone changed the rules, deliberately, then afterwards pretends to us that it was always that way. No. It wasn’t.
Anyways I do hope they start the deporting with the red states. That’s a great idea. Take them out of the census and let the remnants flee to blue states while we work towards getting them all out everywhere, starting with red states but going to the blue states as soon as we can.
The strain on the system (which they made happen by the way, so, karma) and general chaos they were hoping to sow everywhere getting concentrated in the blue states might slow the blue states down on stopping the deportations. This really does seem to be coming down to w .a. r. It might also help demonstrate the error of their perceptions to anyone living there who still thinks all these illegals ought to be here. Nothing like having reality on your doorstep and out of fantasy land to bring home the facts of the situation.
