A true criminal justice reform bill would end the private prison complex and create actual prisons that can hold more accountability for overreach of criminals running the system. Opening a labor camp for offenders who commit crimes would be more reason to not commit crimes. All county, state and federal court systems would need to be overhauled. All staff will need to be verified as not being biased, racist, or judgemental in any way.
Drug offenses will have lighter sentences depending on what drug or how much they had. Addiction is a result of a broken country and families. We need to understand why people commit crimes and how severe the crimes are and judge fairly. No one is perfect and we all need to help with true change to help our communites. Helping others and caring for one another can help fill the void for so many people.
We also realize that sex offenses are harmful and impact mental health in profound ways. These crimes will hold maximum punishments and depending on the sex crime, may even require death penalty. Sex crimes have made it so the survivor feels powerless and afraid to speak their truth. Pornography must be banned. Porn and sex crimes proves a correlation and proving to be more causation everyday.
Employment, housing, voting, and owning a firearm are all impacted by criminal history. When will we realize that human beings in this social structure is the problem? To have equal opportunity and give all people hope, the past mistakes of someone should be forgiven (depending on the crime)
Mental Health needs to be addressed and traumatic experiences must be prioritized. Non-profits are funneling money and this needs to stop. Health insurance doesn’t cover rehabilitation and even counseling services cost $1000’s a month! These are all corrupted methods and the agencies are using them for their own selfish monetary needs.
All corruption must end and can end by auditing funds.
