Compassionate deportation of illegal immigrants

First and foremost–before any of this could be considered we must secure the border. Ronald Reagan granted a huge amnesty based on a promise to secure the border that never happened. I think that contributed to where we are today.

My argument for compassion does not apply to the illegal aliens who have come here in the last 4 years. I believe that they all need to return to their homes unless there is a clearly certifiable need of asylum.

There are people who have been living in our country as illegal immigrants since after the Reagan Amnesty for 2-4 decades now. A great portion (but certainly not all) of those people have become part of the contributing fabric of our country. There are many that are our neighbors, friends, relatives by marriage and hard workers who are paying the price with their efforts to achieve a better life for themselves and for our country.

I would suggest the following steps:

  1. Anyone that has come in the last 4 years (or 8 years or some number agreed upon) just needs to be deported.
  2. Deport all those who have criminal charges against them in this country or any other country.
  3. Deport those who belong to gangs
  4. Deport those who have been consuming public services and not contributing to the country in any meaningful way.

To those who remain:

Offer them some kind of Lifetime Revocable Work Visa that can be revoked for any of the following reasons:

  1. They will not have any right to vote. If they are caught trying to vote, they will need to be deported. (If they want to vote, they need to return to their country of origin and apply to immigrate legally).
  2. Give them a time limit of 1 year (or some number) to be completely off any form of welfare. If they go past the time limit–they will need to be deported.
  3. If they have any run-in with the law, they will need to be deported.
  4. If they become a member of a gang, they will need to be deported.
  5. If they try to impose laws other than those lawfully implemented by the respective States or the Federal Government (Sharia law for example) they will need to be deported.
  6. Deportation for any other suggestions that drain our society rather than build our society.

I am troubled by suggestions of “turning in” neighbors or citizens for deportation. To me that seems not much different than Communist practices of incenting people to turn on each other and testify against each other. I would rather see us offer the Revocable Lifetime Work Visa to all those who entered illegally. If they don’t voluntarily sign up for it after some period of time and they are caught, then they would need to be deported.
