Similar to programs that companies already have in place for their employees that would like to go back to school. I believe companies should offer employees student debt relief programs. These programs should kick in after 3-5 years of employment with the company, that way those taking advantage of the opportunity have solidified themselves within the company and aren’t just trying to take advantage in year one and then leaving. This would create competition between businesses based on the type of relief they offer their employees as well has employee turnover rates lowering.
The government could offer tax breaks for those companies that offer these programs. That way the money given to the people for debt relief isn’t coming from taxpayers and instead from private companies. On the same side the companies will receive a tax break which they will or should be recommended to pass down to the consumers in lower prices.
