Ban Carrageenan in foods

Carrageenan, a food additive which is used as a thickener, is used as a thickener in most dairy products as a substitute for actual cream. It is derived from red seaweed. It is put items from heavy cream to ice cream. It is “GRAS” generally regarded as safe, but I know from isolation dieting that it causes symptoms similar to IBS including intestinal distress and in some cases bleeding. If we banned this fake food that is used as a cheap filler substitute, I suspect many people with IBS and lactose intolerance will find that they were just being poisoned.

Agreed! I have found carrageenan in coconut milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, etc. This agent can break down into compounds that are considered to be carcinogenic to humans. It definitely is messing with our gut health. We need this out of our food!!
