Please combined all “Balance Budget” proposals into one.
In Jan. 2021, 53 Republicans sponsored or co-sponsored a bill in the HOUSE requiring a Constitutional Amendment to require a balanced budget.
It was Introduced in House, and then referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, and then on March 4, 2021 it was referred to the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties where it still sits.
This was after the House became a 50-50 split with Kamala breaking a tie vote.

Balance the federal budget. Enough of the borrowing money to pay for programs that may not be effective or useful.
If a balanced budget isn’t passed, the seated members of Congress can’t run for re-election.
A balanced budget constitutional amendment for the United States could enforce fiscal responsibility by limiting government spending to match revenue, reducing the risk of accumulating unsustainable debt. Without such an amendment, the federal government often relies on deficit spending, leading to a national debt that can burden future generations with high interest payments and limit funds available for essential services. For example, during economic booms, an enforced balanced budget could p…
Pass a Balanced Budget Accountability Act, which would require all members of Congress to pass a balanced budget for the federal government every year of their service. If any Congress fails to do so before the end of the current fiscal year, all members will immediately become ineligible for reelection. This new law would be intended to promote fiscal responsibility and prevent the government from accruing excessive debt.
This law should allow for some degree of domestic emergencies, but a…
I have seen the idea of a balanced budget but here is my proposed language. It also requires a flat tax.
Except in time of war, congress shall pass a balanced budget based upon an equal tax rate for all.
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to ensure responsible fiscal management of the nation’s finances, requiring the government to run a surplus budget and prioritize debt reduction. This policy aims to prevent the accumulation of unsustainable debt and promote long-term economic stability.
Policy Overview:
Balanced Budget Mandate:
The federal government must adopt and maintain a balanced budget, where annual expenditures do not exceed the total revenue generated through taxes and other…
It is a Constitutional mandate to balance the budget, yet it hasn’t been done in 30 years and NOBODY is EVER held accountable. Meanwhile, the American people who balance their budgets get fleeced, gridlock ensues, and our money gets spent to a ton of causes we not only don’t want, but much of the time completely despise. We have rolled on CRs for 3 decades!
My suggestion is:
If Congress doesn’t balance the budget at any point in time during their tenure, NONE shall be eligible to run in their …
A balanced budget must be in place by Sep 30 of each year. Failure to do so will result in each sitting member of Congress being ineligible for re-election. If the Federal Debt exceeds 50% of GDP, a budget with at least 3% surplus must be in place by Sep 30 of each year until the debt is reduced to less than 50% of GDP. Failure to do so results in each sitting member of Congress being ineligible for re-election. Why does this have to be 500 characters? Why does this have to be 50…
Balanced Budget. Each individual exception will be by yes votes by 95% of all house seats, 95% of all senate seats, and signed by President.
Require congress to submit and approve balanced budget and if unable, members are not eligible for re-election.
Put forth to Congress a Balanced Budget Amendment to The US Constitution. Require all budget line items to balance based on revenue. Surplus revenue should be earmarked for paying down the national debt. Require annual budgets to allocate payments toward the national debt.
