Agree and disagree. Add Green Card holders to be able to purchase land.

Amendments can be made such as Green Card holders can purchase up to a certain amount and citizens can purchase openly.

Or “Citizen” i.e. American national and yes they exist and there’s a difference. Let’s stop Chinese front companies from buying our land…lease only for them.

This would make it very difficult for foreign companies to invest in America, for example setting up a factory which might create American jobs. Perhaps a more practical formulation should be by land use. Industrial land must be purchased by qualified industry, and used to industrial purposes. Farm land must be purchased by qualified farmers and used for farming purposes. This should be irrespective of citizenship. We should not allow anyone like a Bill Gates to buy valuable farmland and leave it fallow. Furthermore, permission for the development of Greenfield Projects should be strictly regulated. Reuse of existing structures, demolition and rebuilding of derelict structures is a great measure toward preserving the natural environment and preventing sprawl, and Greenfield projects should meet a high standard for having exhausted all reutilization options

How do you think the land already owned by foreign entities should be handled?
Would be great if lands could be acquired through federal condemnation and donated to farmers. Or sold and money donated to education, child hunger, trafficking, families affected by fentanyl deaths.

You took the words right out of my mouth. We need to protect ourselves and China buying up our land, especially our farm land is absolutely insane. We need to do a better job at protecting ourselves and giving our people more opportunities , not foreign interests.

I believe that if you are here legally and are working towards your citizenship there is nothing wrong with buying a home. Why would we restrict a legal immigrant, who is working, and paying taxes from owning property?

Absolutely agree. There is no reason why American soil should belong to anyone who isn’t a citizen. This major oversight has led to vast swaths of American land, including farmland, being purchased by foreign entities and adversarial governments. American independence relies on American land ownership. This simple, common-sense stipulation has been included in proposed legislation, but has never made it to the President’s desk. It’s time for it be law.

I think the problem doesn’t lie with disallowing them but land it is the need to fix the immigration system.

We need stop people and companies that are buying up large tracts of farm land and then not farming the land. We need to grow our own food.
