Add Autism to List of Qualifying Injuries Under The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program

Autism is not currently covered under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Here’s a link to the HRSA website with accompanying Vaccine Injury Table:

Current qualifying illness, disabilities, injuries or conditions include:

Anaphylaxis, brachial neuritis, basically syncope, encephalitis, chronic arthritis, thrombocytopenic purpura, intussusception, GBS, etc.

Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder where 80% of cases are linked to inherited genetic mutations. Instead of attaching the list as back up for your arguement, please post any relevant studies that proves this to be true. While I do not agree w/ you, I think if you attached credible source material to back your claim, instead of the list in which it lacks, you would be met w/ more people open to discussion instead of defense.
While vaccines may cause the other reactions you listed, these are not neurological or developmental disorders and are all reactionary to vaccines. In fact, most of these listed are immune disorders. You cannot compare apples and oranges when it comes to the human body. While all body systems do affect one another, it is important to keep in mind that we arent talking about heart rate and blood pressure affecting vision. We cant compare two different diagnoses when they both affect a completely different part of the human body than autism, which is the basis of your arguement. A lot more people are expected to have anaphylaxis as a result of a vaccine than autism simply due to people lacking the antibodies to fight the allergens, and lets face it, we dont always know if we are allergic to a substance that is in a vaccine that we dont come in contact everyday w/.
All I am here to do is to try and help OP see that if this is the fight that OP belives in and feels it is the betterment of society, then please attach relevant material that supports the arguement. Simply adding a list and stating “autism isn’t here and it should be” doesnt do the job. You aren’t giving reasoning why it should be and credible material to support that. At this point, you’re using this platform as a way to spread your own agenda and misinformation. All I ask is that if you want the people to think about this critcally and inact, you must also think critcally. Autism has no single known cause, but there is also no evidence to support 100% that vaccines are a cause themselves.

I’d like to support this idea by adding that Autism is an umbrella term.

I would say is it safe to add that vaccine injuries can and should include: loss of speech, motor and cognitive abilities and neurological disorders that appear to concede with Autism or Autism like symptoms or traits.

This has been done in the past though it is rare there have been cases won under these terms.

In conclusion when using an umbrella term such Autism because it’s such a broad spectrum in symptoms with many other disorders associated.

I would argue that I believe the issue in using the word “Autism” in itself can be deemed “too specific” and narrow therefore allowing the “vaccines don’t cause Autism”rhetoric. I believe this catch phrase is used as a marketing strategy which and does in many incidences immediately shuts down even possibility.

Therefore, when we use the word autism specifically, we are not covering what’s under the umbrella term such as ADHD, OCD, depression, learning disabilities and all of the co-morbidities such as Tourette’s, which is also another umbrella term. Autism is a comorbidity of Tourette’s.

In conclusion, persons with Autistic like symptoms or any and all Comorbidities would be covered for both diagnosed and undiagnosed individuals according to symptoms.

A little of my background I have two children on the autism spectrum, My oldest daughter now 18 has Tourette’s and autism. My youngest son almost 6 has severe nonverbal autism and XYY. My youngest son lost cognitive abilities and all speech after a round of vaccines at 18 months. I
