Abolish pride month

I’m not against gays but I am against pride month. It should be veteran month. They sacrifice everything for the country.

I find it ironic that pride month was the same month Father’s Day is in. Something they’ll never be physically.

Abolish sounds like a lot of heavy government involvement. I am against it being “Abolished”. However, we do not need our government encouraging participation in ways that are intimidating for those who do not observe. For example, keep it out of schools because it’s inappropriate to focus on a families choices. Are you going to have “straight” month, “divorced” month “raised by grandma” month? It just doesn’t belong there. But if an administration in the White House chooses to fly a rainbow flag, the citizens need to remember that decision when election time rolls around. Gay people are citizens too but I don’t think their lifestyle should receive more accolades than straight people. The need for Gay Pride Month is over - thankfully.

I think we’ve reached a point where Gay Pride should transition into something more inclusive like just American Pride. The whole point was equality, right? Every American should be celebrated equally, not by their sexual orientation but by their citizenship. We’re all Americans at the end of the day, and maybe focusing on what unites us, rather than what sets us apart, could bring us closer together. It feels like the celebration has veered off from its original intent of fighting for equal rights to now almost emphasizing differences, which seems counterproductive when we’re aiming for true equality where no one’s sexual orientation defines their worth or their celebration as an American.

Hate to break it to you but bisexual people were a thing long before yoid niece was even born lmao. As a lgbt person i agree its shoved down everyones throat a lot lately but lgbt people have been around longggg before we were it just seems more prominent now because so many of lgbt people are annoying and make it their whole personality

I believe you missed the point of the OP.

The OP was talking about banning the celebration of “Pride Month”. Not the people.

Pride should be moved to March. It matches the energy of spring anyway.

February is a good choice too. This is due to Valentine’s Day. Let the month be dedicated to “Love”. Black American History Month can be moved to June to coincide with Juneteenth.

July would be American History Month to coincide with Independence Day.

Both months combined should be Freedom Season. Two months dedicated to the celebration of American values and culture. Racism removed. We all know the history of this country. It isn’t always pretty. Nothing is. I’m sure even Mariah Carrey has her “ugly days”.

The goal is to learn and be better.

I dont believe so because i had commented saying there is a veterans and military family month (we are in that month right now) as i dont believe the month should be banned because you cant ban an entire month lol but i can see how mainstream stores should be banned from selling pride merch as we should keep it away from the children as much as possible

As a vet I agree and appreciate the consideration. But no group really needs a month, that’s just ridiculous. I’m happy with Veterans Day.

The entire LGBTQ+++ is nothing more than a modern day repetition of an old story in real time, of The Pied Piper of Hamlin. The Pied Piper (pied defined means multicolored clothing, and PRIDE is one letter away from PIED). Summary the town was overran with rats, and town leaders hired this piper to rid town of rats. A financial amount was agreed upon and the piper played his musical instrument and led the rats from the town and into the river, thus drowning the rats. The town reneged on payment so the Pied Piper in revenge, played his tune which only children could hear and the children followed him to a magic mountain and through a door never to be seen again.

Thank you for the reply Shayna, believe it or not we agree more than we disagree! Again i am in the lgbt community and i am a republican so trust me when i say i understand how they treat people with opposing views and its wrong. Its always the side who talks about love and acceptance who are the first ones to come at people for having different opinions.
I also agree that its wrong to teach these things in school. I hate that my community has become such a loud voice when the annoying ones are the spokesperson for the community. I honestly dont even like saying “community” because they have casted out my voice. A lgbt person who is a republican trump supporter. I promise you theres a lot of lgbt people who just want to live their life and not be like the loud ones.

@Mattq I completely understand! Thank you for sharing your voice and for helping share with people in general that not all LGB are hateful like that. It’s kinda similar to Christianity in a way. There are several Christian’s bashing and hating anyone with different views and especially in LGB but not all of us are like that at all. I’m glad to hear your views and I 100% agree.

Im glad we were able to have a good respectful conversation. Hope to see these types of conversations go up. God bless you!

Okay i can totally understand this point Kaleb. I agree fully that more people should know that this month is for veterans and military familys but unfortunately the media is so twisted and would rather show lgbt issues for all of June but nothing about our vets in November. Im part of the community and actually im the most hated letter im the T! Lol (mainly hated by my own community for not following their twisted lies) but i truly wish our veterans got the attention that lgbt people get. I truly do. And i absolutely hate more than anything what the community turned into. I think for pride month there should be a ban on selling pride merch. We need to keep it away from children as much as possible.

Honestly, I must wonder in print, why we continue honoring collectives of any sort.

For if the entire point of the American experiment, is maximizing liberty for the individual, is it not counterproductive, to celebrate collectives?

The title of the policy is “abolish” which is another word for ban, remove, eliminate. So yes, we are talking about banning pride month.

As someone not Christian, Catholic or LGBTQ, I can say the same about your community as well as many other not part of a large faith group. I feel most of society is faith driven and shoves that believe down our throats whenever we want to discuss policy, laws AND civil rights. Now, as a reasonable adult I acknowledge that not all religious people are the same. But having been victimized by the Catholic church, taken advantage of and manipulated by the church, I still believe everyone has the right to celebrate what they believe in. If we discuss abolishing pride month only on the basis that it is a sin in some religions, we are insulting the whole reason we came to american in the 1700s. We were escaping religious persecution. If we ban pride month then we will have the legal precedence to ban Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day and many other religious/faith based holidays.
If you all are as dedicated to your faiths as you claim, why isn’t Halloween the first on you list of “holidays to abolish” being it (in the words of many religious extremists) celebrates witchcraft and the devil?

Veterans >LGBTQ . Sorry, not sorry.

Yeah… i never said differently. But theres also lgbt veterans as well so if the issue is with lgbt people then it kinda cancels it out. All veterans deserve more recognition and appreciation.
