A National Readiness Plan For All

Given our country regularly has issues with natural disasters as well as man made problem like civil unrest or even water quality issues, the United States Government needs to develop general and region specific preparedness plans to be disseminated to each citizen that allows them to be ready to deal with sustained issues. Hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, hail storms, fires, floods, supply chain issues, civil conflict, medical and hygienic necessities, clean water, food, and a way to get to safety, and even nuclear fallout. Preparedness should be a way of life for citizens which affords them a greater ability to survive and make it through hard times. It should be the duty of the government to aid the citizenry in its mission to obtain training, experience and supplies for a plethora of scenarios. Nothing is worse than when disaster strikes unexpectedly and people lose property or their lives unnecessarily. Readiness also applies to every day life. And this should be a foundation taught in schools and refreshed year after year. There should be a department of preparedness instead of the clean up crew like FEMA which we have seen fall short time after time and become a national disgrace and slap in the face to those who need help most. Making America great involves making America strong and prepared for any occurrence.
