Some 30 years ago some really idiotic ideas fluttered through the educational system, and the result was “open” schools with no fences, few walls, lots of windows, “gun free zone” signs on the front doors, and a “zero tolerance” policy toward even toy guns, even drawings of guns, even pop-tarts chewed into the shape of guns.
