This bill would create a fair way to elect our Presidents.
How it works: The citizens in each county vote. Whichever candidate gets the most votes for that county, win the county. Each county is worth 1 point. Whoever wins the most points for that state, wins the state, which is worth 1 point. The goal is to win the state, and if it is won, the candidate has a score of 1 point.
For example: A state has 10 counties. A person wins 6 counties, so they win the state. Their total points in the election would not be 7, it would be 1.
The first to win the majority of the states, wins the election.
This makes cheating nearly impossible because of the amount of counties one would have to cheat. This also prevents candidates from just visiting the most popular cities, and gives “the forgotten” people just as much say. This also gets rid of any state being worth more than the others. Lastly, as we seen in the 2020 election, no longer will a candidate win most of the country, but still not be declared the winner.
The only thing that I foresee going wrong with this off the top of my head is that single states will still be worth more. Just instead of it being the bigger cities it will just be the bigger state that have more counties in them. Like why focus on Maryland when you can focus on Texas or California, who will have many more counties this more likely points to try and grab.
The bigger states with more counties would still get more votes/points at the end…
I revised. I should have given an example the first time
so you’re thinking of more of a system where the counties count as a single vote up until the candidate with the most counties wins the state then after that the candidate wins one point for the total state?
Exactly! No more 50 points for this state, and 2 for that state. Also, no more relying on just the most populated city to determine who gets the state.
